On September 5, 2023, Disney Cruise Line revealed the ship will be named ‘Disney Adventure‘ during the 2023 Destination D23 event at Walt Disney World. Certain features will be reimagined under the world-renowned expertise of Walt Disney Imagineers and is expected to set sail in 2025. While the incomplete Global Dream was rumored to have a capacity of more than 9,000 passengers, Disney Adventure is expected to have a capacity closer to 6,000 guests. The ship remains under construction at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Wismar, Germany.
Global Dream was originally ready to install a theme park on deck encompassing waterslides as well as a roller coaster, not unlike the one on Carnival Cruise Line’s latest ships Mardi Gras and Carnival Celebration, but longer. According to reports from USA Today, an affidavit signed by a Homeland Security Investigations Special Agent stated that the photos and videos included both children and teenagers. A Disney Cruise Line crew member has been arrested for the possession and transportation of child pornography. Originally ordered for Genting’s Dream Cruises and under construction in Germany at MV Werften, Disney bought the ship in a half-finished state following Genting’s demise in 2022.
